One of the dreamiest stops along your way to Chichen Itza Wonder of the World is Cenote Ik Kil!
As part of Ik Kil Archeological Park, this cenote is ideal for swimming and you can reach it through a carved stairway that leads to a swimming platform. Open to the sky and covered through green leaves that give you the feeling of raindrops falling from the sky to the waters of the Cenote, this used to be a sacred place for Mayans that used to sacrifice humans to the God of Rain, Chaac.
The site of Ik Kil has been also famous for hosting many Cliff Diving Events although individual jumping from the top is forbidden.
Opening hours: Everyday 09:00 - 17:00
Entrance fee: approximately 4 USD
Luxury Key Recommends: Combine your visit to Cenote Ik Kil with a guided tour of Chichen Itza, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World! Don't forget that touching the roots inside this cenote is forbidden in order to preserve the natural beauty. Moreover, although many Cenotes have their own extended facilities, do not forget to bring your swimwear, towels, sandals or flip-flops, comfortable waterproof shoes, snorkel equipment, camera, a bottle of water & natural biodegradable sunscreen & insect repellent!
